Humility…wasn’t sure what to make of this when I got given the word to use today. In the dictionary the word Humility means ‘a humble condition or attitude of mind.’ And Humble means ‘having or showing a modest estimate of one’s own importance.’
Maybe it means I should be prepared to work in service of others without obvious personal gain. Mother Teresa was certainly a humble person. But, she was also very mindful. She knew for example, that when people go on and on about something; they draw that to themselves. She once said she would never attend a rally against war; but if they should ever have one for peace she would be there!
Maybe it means I should allow an unpretentious but confident air to surround me. That I can do. I can also live my truth lovingly. I can also love and enjoy what I can give and feel good about my place in ‘the big picture.’
I am always prepared to give of myself and my knowledge to others. This I do without question. Giving does not mean sacrifice. When you give, you can do so within your means, and it feels good. Sacrificing, on the other hand, does NOT feel good.
Alongside giving, I also had to learn to receive. This is monumentally important! For when we give, give and give, we sometimes don’t have anything left inside ourselves and then we need to stop and recharge our batteries, or else we surely become ill. Be aware of how much you do.
The other thing is that if you give, and you like doing that, as it makes you feel gratified; then you need to learn to receive. If you do not receive even a compliment from another graciously, then you ROB the other person of the gift of giving! Think on this…
You can lower the self importance of yourself when giving, or receiving; and this then leads you to be more humble…to truly practice humility.
Thanks for listening and applying this in your own lives.
Angel Blessings to All,
