Your third eye is the portal to all of your other selves and into the corridors of the Infinite. The Third Eye chakra is the key to what is called “Clairvoyant Sight” (clear vision). Third Eye meditation is used for moving past your limitations and clearing your mind. It is claimed that through third eye meditation people can see chakras, auras and other spiritual energies. Yoga belief systems hold that the third eye radiates light and receives information. Sometimes the third eye becomes active and people become frightened by this experience. Know that to allow the unfolding of your gifts is to embrace your wisdom from all the ages.
This area of your body is also where people often find their resistance to all things outside of the current reality.That is why headaches here can be prevalent.
There is a third eye exercise you can try: –
To enhance your ‘seeing’ focus on a picture or a painting on the wall.
Close your eyes and try ‘seeing’ that picture with your third eye area.
Be aware that the third eye does not just exist in the front of your face, it also
comes in from behind your head, so try using THIS area to now focus. What is the
difference for you? When I do this, it seems to bring a sharper clarity. It is worth
practising.
To locate your third eye: –
Using the first finger and the thumb of one hand, place the thumb on the tip of your
chin, and the first finger on the end of your nose.
Now, holding this distance between quite firmly in place within your hand, move upwards
until your thumb now rests on the end of your nose and your first finger rests on your
forehead. THIS is where your third eye is located. When you do this in a mirror, it can
quite easily show you where it is.
When I learnt about Native American Shaman Healing, I learnt that sometimes we can either use our two thumbs to ‘pull apart’ this third eye area as a sign of our intent to start using it OR we could imagine it opening a bit like opening a garage door. This all serves to let the Universe know that we wish to proceed with learning more about the wisdom we can access when we use our third eyesight. Why not be open to the possibility?
If you still feel uncomfortable with this, perhaps you are worried what responsibilities you might have if you accept this gift of inner sight. Know that everyone has the ability to look beyond their current reality, to learn, to know and even to remember far more than has ever been learnt upon our Earth.
How to do a Third Eye Meditation
1.Find somewhere quiet and peaceful where you will not be disturbed. Make sure you are comfortable, either sitting or laying down. Proceed at your own pace.
2.Breathe deeply through your nose. Hold momentarily then exhale through the mouth. Relax.
3.Relax the face. Feel this relaxation extending to the entire body.
4.Gradually relax more and more…
5.Focus your attention now between your eyebrows. Become aware of your third eye, the energy in the centre of your forehead. Feel it opening now and radiating light. Notice the light travelling outwards from your Third Eye around you – 360 degrees.
6.If you have any then let go and release any negative or disruptive thoughts, see them floating away.
7.Breathe in slowly and deeply once again, then exhale.
8.Concentrate now on the Sphere of light in your forehead – Observe the light radiating.
9.Continue to relax your body, and as you do so, be aware of the sensation of your body becoming lighter and lighter.
10.Allow the light to flow through you, out of your third eye.
11.Ask your Higher Self to fill you with pure white light. Ask for the light to fill you throughout, into every space both in and around you.
12.Ask your Higher Self if there is a message about you opening your third eye. Be still for a couple of minutes and allow any messages to appear.
13.If you are still having some difficulty, this is okay, but know that you can ask what it is that you must know in order to open your third eye. Again, be still for a couple of minutes.
14.Notice if there are images or thoughts or visions arising in your third eye.
15.Once you have experienced, take your time and gradually bring your awareness back to the present place and time.
16.Say (aloud or in your head) “I am fully present in this moment, here and now.”
Take a deep breath, stretch and express thanks.
There is nothing required of you at all except to be that which you are…the choice as always, is yours. Ask the Angels who are ever present and waiting with anticipation to be of assistance to you! They will aid you on your journey of discovery.
